Shipping & returns

Where we send

At launch, within Kenya and to the United Kingdom. The EU and the United States follow once the first route is properly proven. We would rather ship well to one country than badly to forty.

How long it takes

Inside Kenya, a few days. To the UK, tracked air post takes 5 to 13 days from the day it is posted, and we post within two working days of your payment clearing. The tracking number reaches you the day it goes.

What it costs

Shipping is charged at cost and shown at checkout before you pay. [Exact rates to be confirmed against the current Posta Kenya EMS tariff.]

Import VAT and duty

There is no customs duty on Kenyan cloth entering the UK or the EU. Kenya holds trade agreements with both that give duty-free access, and we declare origin correctly so that you get the benefit of it.

Import VAT is a separate thing and it is not duty. UK and EU parcels may be charged VAT on delivery, plus a courier handling fee. That is the buyer’s to pay and it is outside our control. We tell you here rather than let you discover it at your own front door.

Returns

Fourteen days from delivery. The shuka must be unused and unwashed, in the condition it arrived. Message us first so we know it is coming.

Return postage is yours, and we will be straight about it: sending a parcel back to Kenya is slow and it is not cheap. If something is wrong with the cloth, that is our problem — tell us, send a photograph, and we will sort it. If you simply changed your mind, the postage is the cost of that decision.

If it is damaged or lost

Photograph it and message us. A tracked parcel that stops moving can be traced, and we will chase it. You will not be left arguing with a post office on another continent.
